History

Architectural description

Originally the Budapest Studio Theatre played in Józsefváros and then they moved to Tivoli in 1998 in Nagymező Street.Originally used as a cinema, but  converted to a theatre following the decision of the local government of the Capital. The usage of the building was won on a tender by the Budapest Studio Theatre. The ground plan of the theatre shows a rectangular shape, axial confronted linear type. The position of the auditorium and the stage are flexible, easily rearranged to meet the needs of the performance. The auditorium can receive 150 -170 persons.The theatre formed from People’s Theatre is located in 7th District, nearby Gyula Wälder’s six-storey high block of flats; at Asbóth Street no. 20.
