This so-called “Wire Mesh Opera” is located in the middle of a city park, directly on the site of a former granite quarry. This involves the phenomenon of renewal of unused locales, in similar fashion as with the revival of used up, originally industrial areas, such as for example in the Ruhr region in West Germany. The opera building's name comes from its iron construction.
