Scenery

Type: Scenery
Period: 1833

History

An almost completely preserved collection of scenery came into existence concurrently with reconstruction of the theatre into the present day appearance in 1833. The author of the collection is not known, but it might have been the decorator of the Estates Theatre at that time Vinzenz Fischer Birnbaum. Apart of the curtain, there have been preserved eleven sets of scenery, comprised of flats and backdrops (borders were neutral). Some of the flats are painted on both the sides. Apart of that, fragments of sets of scenery from an older theatre have been preserved, probably from the 1780s or 1790s.
