History

The winning entry in the competition was submitted by KKM Kozień Architekci of Cracow. According to the rules, the subject of the competition was ‘to prepare a design for the modernisation, renovation and construction of the New Theatre as a multi-functional cultural centre that would also house the administration of the grounds.[1] The objective was not so much to create a theatre as such, but rather a modern, interdisciplinary cultural centre, where, alongside a theatre, there would be a recording studio, a projection hall, a reading room, a video library, a roof garden, and a park.
