History

The Theatre of the World was created for the architectural Biennale. The idea for a floating theatre makes reference to the 18th century when Venice was full of these kinds of theatres. Rossi worked with their concrete elements, altering them, however, in order to be able to create a floating building. Its maximum height reaches 25 m. It is composed of a central square and octagonal roofs, with the internal and external cladding made from wood. It is welded onto floating steel pontoons.
