The concept of the theatre is based on variability. This stage can work as a monumental space with a perfectly flat flooring, but it also has the opportunity to evoke the atmosphere of the classic Baroque theatre or a lot of other types of spaces such as a total theatre or an arena. The building is a range of vertically changing dynamic spaces that show gentle asymmetrical movements in the horizontal composition. The fact that the building is so block-like is symbolic. The pure, modest shape works as a dominant centre of gravity among the surrounding historical buildings of different sizes. I preserved all the little gateways that open up the block of the surrounding buildings, so the square is approachable from every direction. A very important aim is that this area with the new theatre fills the part of a new cultural centre in the city.
